Obama

A couple of nights ago, I was sitting in Liz's apartment, watching Obama give a speech about what he's been up to recently, and his plans for his presidency. There was a lot of clapping. So much that it got a little bit annoying. Liz and I stopped listening, and instead, we talked about

history in the making.
And it is. I am so happy that we elected for leadership of our nation an upstanding, diplomatic, charismatic, and - as far as i can tell - genuinely concerned, black man. Racism is among the ugliest of vices, and our nation has made a huge step in the right direction by looking past color of one's skin into the heart of an individual. The fact that this is a bit of a big deal just goes to show that we're still working past our differences, but the point is, we are working past them.

I'm proud of my nation, and though I come from a staunch Republican background, I'm proud of my new President as well. I see bright things in the future - this is going to be something our children and grandchildren learn about.
